Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 lb puff pastry, thawed
- 2 Tbsp Bailan South African Hot Everyday Seasoning – Piri Piri
- 1 Tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- ½ cup breadcrumbs
- 2 large eggs, 1 beaten
- 1 Tsp salt (recommended)
How To
- Sauté onions with oil and 1/2Tbsp of Bailan Piri Piri seasoning in a saucepan for about a minute
- When the onions are ready, move into a separate bowl thoroughly with the ground beef, salt, breadcrumbs, 1 egg, and rest of Bailan Piri Piri seasoning
- Spread a little flour on a board and unroll the thawed puff pastry into 2parts. Tip: thaw frozen puff pastry overnight in a fridge or leave at room temperature for 30mins before use
- Spread ¼ of the mixture onto the length of each pastry strip, leaving a slight edge on each side
- Roll the pastry tightly around the meat and brush the ends with the beaten egg to secure. Repeat for the other 3 pastry parts. TIP: Put the pastry in a refrigerator for 10mins to cool and make cutting easier
- Cut each roll into about 8 – 10 pieces each with a sharp knife and brush the sausage rolls with the second egg
- Pre-heat the oven to 400F and bake for 25-30 minutes until the pastry puffs and meat are cooked and lightly browned
- Remove, set to cool, and serve warm
